SAMSTAGSSCHULE - Saturday School

For children and teens (ages 4-17)

The emphasis of GAI Samstagsschule programs is the natural acquisition of language in an interactive and fun environment. The classes follow a framework that incorporates singing, crafts, games, and physical motion, along with didactic lessons at an age-appropriate level. At Samstagsschule, we provide quality instruction and language immersion opportunities starting at the age of 4. We strive to create an inclusive environment and welcome students from all backgrounds. Our goal is to not only teach the German language, but to spark interest and curiosity in Germanic cultures and connect children to a broader world through an intercultural lens.

Registration for 2025 Spring Semester - NOW OPEN!

NEW Registration Guidelines in 2025:

Please register your child according to their age group. During registration, you will be asked to provide information on your child's knowledge of the German language and they will be placed in a group suitable for their proficiency level. We offer classes for complete beginner and intermediate learners, as well as for advanced speakers (attending immersion schools) or children with native proficiency through exposure at home.

GAI Language Education Program Policies
  1. If there are too few students registered to hold a course section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options, or, if needed, a course refund or credit towards a course in the future.
  2. If there are 14 or more students registered for a class, it will be divided into two sections.
  3. If opting to purchase a book through the GAI, course and textbook fees are due in full before the first class session unless other arrangements have been made with the Director of Language Education.
  4. Textbooks are non-refundable.

Cancellation or Withdraw:

If a student/parent withdraws 7 or more days prior to the first class session, they may choose tuition credit toward a future class, or request a full tuition refund by emailing [email protected]. For example, if the class begins on a Monday evening, you may withdraw without obligation up to the class time on the same day of the previous week. If a student/parent withdraws in the 6 days prior to the first class session, 75% of tuition will be refunded by emailing the request to [email protected]. No refunds will be offered after the first full class session. Class/session absences do not qualify for refunds. Credit card processing fees are non-refundable.

If the GAI completely cancels a full course for any reason, the student/parent will be notified and may choose a tuition-credit toward a future class or a full-tuition refund.
