START 1: A1.1 (in-person) - Wed. PM - SECTION B

Course Description:

Our A1.1 Beginner class is perfect for absolute beginners who are eager to kick off their journey to proficiency in German. Learn in a fun environment that focuses on communication and teaches important language skills for everyday life and contemporary professional aspects.

Course Objectives:

At the end of A 1.1, students will be able to introduce themselves and others, and offer basic information about themselves and ask others for the same. They will have received an introduction to the sound system in German and talk about and ask for things in their immediate environment. They will also be able to count until one million (really!) and conjugate common verbs in the present tense and use possessive pronouns and prepositions.

**If you HAVE completed a German class before, please take a placement test HERE to ensure this class is not too easy for you.**

Textbook:

Schritte International Neu 1+2 (textbook and coursebook) - $75

You can add the textbook to your order at checkout. Books will be ready for pickup at the GAI (301 Summit Ave, MN 55102) a week before classes begin. You will receive an email with pickup instructions. If you would like to get your book in the mail, please add shipping to your order (a $10 fee applies).

Location:

This is an IN-PERSON class that meets for 12 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30PM at the GAI (301 Summit Ave.)

Additionally, the course instructor will offer a weekly 30 min long office hour for homework review and questions.

Minimum Enrollment:

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
