TestDaF, which stands for Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache, is a standardized German language test for non-native speakers who are planning on studying at a German university. It assesses proficiency in four key areas: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. The results of the TestDaF are recognized widely by German universities and work as an alternative to the DSD2. It is open to any none-native German speaker and offers an alternate path towards German University for everyone not in a High School with a DSD 2 program. The GAI is offering preparation for the TestDaf for anyone with a proven German B1 proficiency. DSD 1 or Goethe B1 are amongst the certificates that are accepted as proof. If a candidate has a B2 certificate, it is possible to join the class at the C1 level, which is planned to start in the Fall of 2026. All classes are subject to minimum enrollment. Exam preparation at the GAI will span over two years and is especially geared towards high school students that consider studying in Germany. Each year runs along the school year and will consist of once a week 2.5 hour evening class. Minimum age ist 14 and/or being in 9th grade at the beginning of the school year. Classes are held in-person. Year 1 will cover the B2 level, year 2 the C1 level. The test can be taken at the GAI during specific dates throughout the year. These dates are predetermined by the TestDaf institute and are held regularly. Despite the test being digital, candidates have to be present in person.
