START 3: A1.3 (online)

Course Description:

For students with 6 months of German study or completion of START 2 (A1.2).

Learn in a fun environment that focuses on communication and teaches important language skills for everyday life and contemporary professional aspects.

If you are unsure of your level, please take a placement test.

Course Objectives:

At the end of A 1.3, students will be able to talk about their personal lives and offer some details. They can interact in a simple way with other German speakers. They will learn to speak about their likes and dislikes and be able to ask for help or advice in most everyday situations. They will be able to pass the A1 language proficiency test of the Goethe-lnstitut.

Meeting Times:

This is an online class that meets for 12 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Textbook:

Schritte International Neu 1+2 (textbook and coursebook) - $65

You can add the textbook to your order at checkout. Books will be ready for pickup at the GAI (301 Summit Ave, MN 55102) a week before classes begin. You will receive an email with pickup instructions. If you would like to get your book in the mail, please add shipping to your order (a $10 fee applies).

Minimum Enrollment:

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.

Health and Safety:

At the GAI, the health and safety of our staff, members and program participants is a top priority. While proof of vaccination and masks are not required to attend language programming, the GAI will continue to actively monitor Covid-19 developments and CDC recommendations and may modify any or all Covid-19 policies accordingly.
