START 3: A1.3 (in-person ~ Mon. PM)

Course Description:

If you feel ready to finish your A1 German level and build on what you learned with us in our A1.2 course, then look no further! Our A1.3 course is the third, and final step in the A1 sequence here at the GAI! Students will continue to expand their vocabulary in order to talk about their personal interests, vacations & holidays, their health, and even their personal taste in fashion/clothes. We will learn about the perfect tense and the imperative verb forms. 

Course Objectives:

At the end of A1.3, students will be able to talk about their personal lives and provide some simple details on the topic. They will be able to interact in a simple way, as long as the other German speaker talks slowly and clearly, and is prepared to help. 

Course Dates, Location, & Time:

This is an in-person class that meets for 12 weeks on Monday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the GAI (301 Summit Ave., St. Paul, MN). Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework questions and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and communicate day/time of week with all registered course participants.

No Class on Monday, January 19 - MLK Day

Textbook:

Schritte International NEU 1+2, Chapters 10 - 14 ; Kursbuch (textbook), Arbeitsbuch (workbook) bundle - $75

• If you took the previous A1.1 or A1.2 course within the past two years, you will not need to purchase a new set of textbooks. This course will continue in the same book and will cover chapters 10 to 14 (depending on class needs and speed).
  

• Cost: $75 for the set, available for purchase directly from the GAI by adding the textbook option to your cart.
• Order Deadline: Please note that the cutoff to order textbooks from the GAI will be 12/01/2025 in order to receive your books in time. Book orders placed after 12/01/2025 aren't guaranteed to be available by the start date, so we highly encourage participants to order textbooks during the initial registration.**
• Textbook Pickup: Books ordered before 12/01/2025 will be available for pick up approximately one week prior to the first class session. Please be sure to check your email for updates about book pickup dates. 
• Shipping: If you live outside of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and/or cannot pick up your books onsite at the GAI, you will need to select the shipping option at checkout. A $12.00 shipping & handling fee applies.

Minimum Enrollment:

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
