C1.1 (ONLINE ~ Tues. PM)

Course Description:

C1.1 is the first of three courses covering this advanced level. Students will learn some of the most advanced topics in the German language and should be proficient in writing, speaking, and listening at both the professional and personal levels. 

Learn in a fun environment that focuses on communication and teaches important language skills for everyday life and contemporary professional aspects.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the C1 level, students will be able to understand a wide range of complex texts with demanding concepts and implicit meanings. C1 speakers are able to use the language effectively in their social, academic, and professional life. They are able to communicate confidently in social and professional settings and use the German language with a level of flexibility and spontaneity. 

Course Dates, Times & Location:

This is an online course that meets for 12 weeks on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm once a week. Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework questions and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and communicate day/time of week with all registered course participant

• Cost: $75 for the set, available for purchase directly from the GAI by adding the textbook option to your cart.
• Order Deadline: Please note that the cutoff to order textbooks from the GAI will be 12/01/2025 in order to receive your books in time. Book orders placed after 12/01/2025 aren't guaranteed to be available by the start date, so we highly encourage participants to order textbooks during the initial registration.**
• Textbook Pickup: Books ordered before 12/01/2025 will be available for pick up approximately one week prior to the first class session. Please be sure to check your email for updates about book pickup dates. 
• Shipping: If you live outside of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and/or cannot pick up your books onsite at the GAI, you will need to select the shipping option at checkout. A $12.00 shipping & handling fee applies.

Minimum Enrollment:

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
