A2.3 Refresher (in-person ~Thurs. AM)

Course Description:

This A2.3 course will be a refresher course for students who might not feel completely ready to move onto the next band/level of B1.1. The instructor will be Christiane again!

A2.3 is the last course in the Advanced Beginners sequence. Students will continue to practice structures they have learned so far and expand their knowledge regarding questions by studying additional question words and ways to express questions. Different subordinate clauses and aspects of the subjunctive are as much part of the curriculum as the focus on speaking and writing about the past. We will continue to expand vocabulary and their structures to talk about topics of personal interest, and we will learn how to to express complaints or apologize.

Course Objectives:

At the end of A2.3, students will be able to talk about their personal and professional lives. Beyond descriptions, they will be able to express wishes and understand simple conversations. They will be able to understand detailed descriptions of vacation stays. They can recognize stereotypes and prejudices and react in culturally appropriate ways when meeting strangers. They can open a bank account and deal with financial situations.

Course Dates, Location & Time:

This is an in-person class that meets for 12 weeks on Thursday mornings from 9:30pm – 12:00pm at the GAI (301 Summit Ave., St. Paul, MN). Part of this course registration includes an optional 30-minute "office hour" for students where they can ask questions about homework or other topics in the class. Instructor will decide if this is at the beginning of class or at the end of class.

Schritte International NEU 3+4 - Chapter 10 to 14; (Kursbuch & Arbeitsbuch)

• If you took the previous A2.2 course with us, you will not need to purchase any books. This course will cover chapters 10 to 14 (approximately, depending on speed/needs of class.

• Cost: $75 for the set, available for purchase directly from the GAI by adding the textbook option to your cart.
• Order Deadline: Please note that the cutoff to order textbooks from the GAI will be 12/01/2025 in order to receive your books in time. Book orders placed after 12/01/2025 aren't guaranteed to be available by the start date, so we highly encourage participants to order textbooks during the initial registration.**
• Textbook Pickup: Books ordered before 12/01/2025 will be available for pick up approximately one week prior to the first class session. Please be sure to check your email for updates about book pickup dates. 
• Shipping: If you live outside of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and/or cannot pick up your books onsite at the GAI, you will need to select the shipping option at checkout. A $12.00 shipping & handling fee applies.

Minimum Enrollment: 

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
