B1.2 (in-person ~ Mon. PM)

• Structurally: B1.2 continues the Intermediate German sequence. Students will reinforce and practice their basic German skills and continue to study more complex constructions, such as relative clauses. Students will also expand their knowledge of subjunctive forms to express hypothetical situations.
  
• Functionally: Students will start to move away from immediate needs and talk about professional applications. They start to discuss topics of common interest such as the environment.  They will learn to understand longer non-fiction texts to speak about hypothetical situations and to offer predictions for the future.  
  
• Objectives: At the end of B1.2 students will be able to understand and analyze some fictional texts as well as longer newspaper articles. They will be able to understand German advertising and TV and radio features. They will also be able to discuss problems, opinions, and plans.    

Course Dates, Times & Location:

This is an in-person class that meets for 12 weeks on Monday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm once a week. Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework questions and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and communicate day/time of week with all registered course participant

Schritte International NEU 5+6 – Chapters 6-10 – Kursbuch & Arbeitsbuch

• Cost: $75 for the set, available for purchase directly from the GAI by adding the textbook option to your cart.

• Book order: Books ordered later than 3 weeks before the class starting date won't be available for early pick-up.  We will do our best to have them available by the first class session. Books shipped to your house can take up to a week to arrive.

• Textbook Pickup: Books ordered at least 3 weeks before the class start date will be available for pick up from approximately one week prior to the first class session on. Please be sure to check your email for updates about book pickup dates. 

• Shipping: If you are unable to pick up your books onsite at the GAI, you are welcome to use the shipping option at checkout. A $12.00 shipping & handling fee applies.

Minimum Enrollment:

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
