Structurally: B2.1 begins the Upper Intermediate German sequence. Students will build on the grammatical structures acquired throughout the B1 level while developing greater accuracy and flexibility in their use of German. They will expand their knowledge of complex sentence structures, passive constructions, relative clauses, subjunctive forms, and advanced connectors in order to express ideas in more detailed and nuanced ways.
Functionally: Students will develop their ability to communicate confidently in a variety of personal, professional, and academic contexts. They will discuss current topics, express and defend opinions, participate in discussions and debates, summarize information, and engage with authentic German texts and media. Students will continue to expand their vocabulary and improve their ability to communicate effectively and naturally.
Objectives: At the end of B2.1, students will be able to understand and discuss more complex topics, express and support their opinions, describe experiences and ideas in detail, and participate actively in conversations with native speakers. They will be able to write structured texts, summarize information from different sources, and adapt their language to a variety of communicative situations.
