A2.1 (ONLINE ~ Mon. PM)

• Structurally: A2.1 begins the Advanced Beginner German sequence. Students will build on the foundations established in the A1 level and expand their knowledge of German grammar and sentence structures. They will continue to work with prepositions, cases, and word order while learning new structures such as adjective declension, subordinate clauses, and additional verb forms. Students will also continue to develop their pronunciation and fluency through focused speaking practice.

• Functionally: Students will expand their ability to communicate in a wider range of everyday situations. They will learn to discuss topics such as work, education, travel, daily routines, and personal experiences. Students will be able to describe events in more detail, express opinions and preferences, make comparisons, and handle common situations with greater independence.

• Objectives: At the end of A2.1, students will be able to communicate about familiar topics with more detail and confidence. They will be able to describe their experiences, talk about plans and goals, express preferences and opinions, and participate in simple conversations about everyday life. Students will begin to understand longer spoken and written texts and will be prepared to continue developing their German skills at the A2 level.

Course Dates, Location, & Time:

This is an ONLINE class that meets for 12 weeks on Monday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm on Zoom. Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework questions and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and communicate day/time of week with all registered course participants.

Momente A2; Lehrbuch (textbook), Arbeitsbuch (workbook) bundle -  $75

• Cost: $75 for the set, available for purchase directly from the GAI by adding the textbook option to your cart.
• Order Deadline: Please note that in order to receive your books in-time when ordered from the GAI, we ask to order no later than March 15. You are still welcome to order after that date and we will do our best to get the books here for the first class.
• Textbook Pickup: Books ordered before March 15 will be available for pick up approximately one week prior to the first class session.
• Shipping: If you live outside of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and/or cannot pick up your books at the GAI, you will need to select the shipping option at checkout. A $12.00 shipping & handling fee applies

Minimum Enrollment:

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
