Course Description:
Designed for complete beginners of the German language (no prior German language experience), this course will provide students with an introduction to the sounds and structure of the German language. Students will learn the German alphabet, numbers and counting, phonetics, how to introduce themselves, and how to make simple statements. If you are eager to kick off your journey to proficiency in German, this is the course for you!
Course Objectives:
At the end of A1.1, students will be able to introduce themselves and others, and offer basic information about themselves and ask others for the same. They will have received an introduction to the sound system in German and talk about and ask for things in their immediate environment.
Course Dates, Location, & Time:
This is an in-person class that meets for 12 weeks on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at the GAI (301 Summit Ave., St. Paul, MN). Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework, questions, and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and communicate day/time of week with all registered course participants.

Minimum Enrollment:
If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) 72 hours (3 days) prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
