START 3: A1.3 (in-person) - Thurs. PM

Course Description:

If you feel ready to finish your A1 German level and build on what you learned with us in our A1.2 course, then look no further! Our A1.3 course is the third, and final step in the A1 sequence here at the GAI! Students will continue to expand their vocabulary in order to talk about their personal interests, vacations & holidays, their health, and even their personal taste in fashion/clothes. We will learn about the perfect tense and the imperative verb forms. 

Course Objectives:

At the end of A1.3, students will be able to talk about their personal lives and provide some simple details on the topic. They will be able to interact in a simple way, as long as the other German speaker talks slowly and clearly, and is prepared to help. 

Course Dates, Location, & Time:

This is an in-person class that meets for 12 weeks on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the GAI (301 Summit Ave., St. Paul, MN). Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework questions and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and communicate day/time of week with all registered course participants.

Please note: There will NOT be class on Thursday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth Holiday.

Textbook:

Schritte International NEU 1+2, Chapters 10 - 14 ; Kursbuch (textbook), Arbeitsbuch (workbook) bundle - $75

• If you took the previous A1.1 or A1.2 course with us last semester, or in the past 2 years, you will not need to purchase a new set of textbooks. This course will continue in the same book and will cover chapters 10 to 14 (depending on class needs and speed).
• Cost: $75 - The set of textbooks are available for purchase directly from the GAI by adding the textbook option to your cart.
• Shipping: If you live outside of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and cannot pick up your books at the GAI, or if you are taking an online class and need them shipped to you, you will need to select the shipping option at checkout as well. A $10.00 shipping & handling fee applies.
• Pickup: The textbooks for this class will be available for pickup (or shipping) one week before the first day of class. 

• ***Please note***: The cutoff to order textbooks from the GAI will be March 16, 2025 in order to receive a textbook on time. Book orders placed after March 16th will be available on the first day of class. If you did not order a textbook through the GAI, you will not see a $75 textbook charge in your confirmation email.

Minimum Enrollment:

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) at least ***72 hours prior to the term’s start date*** to discuss other class options. Please keep an eye out for emails from the GAI.
