Course Description:
This A1.2 course is the second step in the A1 sequence. Students will continue to practice German pronunciation, expand their knowledge about cases in German as well as prepositions that require the use of specific cases, and they will also learn word order in German and how to use modal verbs. They also start studying past tense forms of haben and sein. Students will continue to learn to express themselves in simple sentences and talk about topics of personal interest such as family, leisure time activities and living arrangements. They will learn to tell time and make appointments. Students will start to express preferences and dislikes. They will be able to show attitudes by adding modal verbs to sentences. They will also learn to talk about the weather.

Course Objectives:
At the end of A1.2, students will be able to offer basic information about themselves, their interests, and hobbies and daily routines and ask others for the same. They will be able to make appointments and plans with others and express their likes or preferences. They will have received an introduction to the sound system in German and talk about and ask for things in their immediate environment.
Course Dates, Location, & Time:
This is an in-person class that meets for 12 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at the GAI(301 Summit Ave., St. Paul, MN). Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework questions and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and they will communicate the day/time of week with all registered course participants.
