B1.3 (in-person) - Wed. PM

Course Description:

This B1.3 course is the third and final step in the B1 level here at the GAI. Students will reinforce and practice their German skills by learning the past-perfect tense in the passive voice, as well as the future tense. Students will learn to conduct arguments and discuss conflicts, offer and accept help, and discuss musical songs. They will also learn to modify statements and read expressively. If you are eager, and ready to finish off the B1 level, while having fun, meeting new people, and learning in a laid back and supportive environment, then this is just the course you need!

Course Objectives:

At the end of B1.3 students will be able to describe people, images, and objects in decent detail, as well as express their emotions and opinions. They will be able to talk about historical events in Germany, evaluate them, and arrange and describe them in chronological order.

Course Dates, Location, & Time:

This is an in-person class that meets for 12 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at the GAI. Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework questions and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and communicate day/time of week with all registered course participants.

Textbook:

Schritte International NEU 5+6 - Chapter 10-14; Kursbuch & Arbeitsbuch

• If you took the previous B1.2 course with us, you will not need to purchase any books. This course will cover the remaining chapters in the textbook (Chapters 10 to 14, depending on student needs and speed of class).
• Cost: $75 for the set, available for purchase directly from the GAI by adding the textbook option to your cart.
• Shipping: If you live outside of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and cannot pick up your books at the GAI, or if you are taking an online class and need them shipped to you, you will need to select the shipping option at checkout as well. A $10.00 shipping & handling fee applies.
• Pickup/Shipping: Please note: The cutoff to order textbooks from the GAI will be March 16, 2025 in order to receive a textbook on time. Book orders placed after March 16th will be available on the first day of class. If you did not order a textbook through the GAI, you will not see a $75 textbook charge in your confirmation email.

Minimum Enrollment: 

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
