A2.2 (in-person) - Mon. PM

Course Description:

A2.2 continues the Advanced Beginner German 2 sequence. This course is the second step in the A2 level and is aimed at students with 12-15 months of German language instruction or the completion of the A2.1 course at the GAI. Students will continue to expand and practice structures they have learned so far. In this course, adjective endings will be introduced. Students will explore prepositions to indicate phrases of time or place. By adding subordinate clauses, or connecting clauses, sentences will become increasingly complex. Pronunciation practice is focusing on individual sounds and more challenging words.

Course Objectives:

At the end of A 2.2, students will be able to talk about their personal lives and offer some details about their education and career as well as their hopes and dreams. They can interact in a simple way – provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help. They can make phone calls and take messages.

Course Dates & Times:

This is an in-person class that meets for 12 weeks on Monday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at the GAI. Additionally, the instructor will offer a weekly "office hour" (30 min) for homework questions and review. The course instructor will decide on a day/time to offer the 30-minute office hour and communicate day/time of week with all registered course participants.

• If you took the previous A2.1 course with us, you will not need to purchase any books. This course will cover chapters 5 – 10 (approximately, depending on speed/needs of class)
• Cost: $75 for the set, available for purchase directly from the GAI by adding the textbook option to your cart.
• Shipping: If you live outside of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and cannot pick up your books at the GAI, or if you are taking an online class and need them shipped to you, you will need to select the shipping option at checkout as well. A $10.00 shipping & handling fee applies.
• Pickup/Shipping: Please note that the cutoff to order textbooks from the GAI will be March 16, 2025 in order to receive a textbook on time. Book orders or course registrations after March 16th will be available on the first day of class.

Minimum Enrollment: 

If there are too few students registered to run a class section, the Director of Language Education will contact the student(s) in the week prior to the term’s start date to discuss other class options.
